All you need is a dice and these vibrant and inspiring activity sheets to really help to ‘Shake Up Those Scales’ and turn learning how to build and play scales into a really fun activity.
Focussing primarily on Levels 1-3 (approximate grades 1-3 ABRSM and Trinity).
There are 2 sheets for each of the 3 levels of scales
In addition there are 4 sheets that can be used to add an extra level of creativity and fun. These sheets are headed “Character”, “Technique”, “Structure” and “Theory”.
A total of 10 activity sheets that can be used for an unlimited number of times.
HOW TO PLAY:
Roll the dice and use sheet 1 of your chosen level to determine what type of scale structure to play
e.g. roll a 3 on the Level 1 sheet … Left Hand Scale, 1 octave
Roll the dice again and use sheet 2 of your chosen level to determine which scale to play
e.g. roll a 5 on the Level 1 sheet … G Major
Roll the dice again and use one of the 4 additional sheets to determine the additional activity to really deepen the understanding of the scale.
e.g. use the “Character” sheet and roll a 2 … Play the scale and make it sound cheerful
So, the dice have spoken and your challenge is to play … a cheerful G Major scale with your left hand for 1 octave
There are so many different variations to be found and they are all down to the fun of rolling a dice!
